- Introduces the concept of resilience by exploring engineering concepts and perspectives to offer students an opportunity to develop the ability to be prepared for and adapt to challenging situations and scenarios—e.g., globalization, climate change, security threats, and natural disasters—on critical infrastructures and key resources.
- Topics include application of tools for infrastructure modeling and risk assessment; identification of natural and man-made hazards; management of disaster risks and communications; resilience design; and future challenges, policy, and novel approaches to advance resilience.
- Explores application to real-life examples through group projects.
- Requires one semester of undergraduate statistics.
