- Designed to foster an understanding of conservation and restoration strategies in the nearshore marine system using a real-world case study approach.
- Students collect and analyze historical and newly collected data and use this to inform a conservation and restoration plan within the context of local, state, and federal laws.
- Uses real-world examples (such as aquaculture, seagrass restoration, and shoreline hardening) to build ecological goals.
- Seeks to build understanding and appreciation of the input of all stakeholders, including that of marginalized groups.
- Offers students an opportunity to produce a high-level and annotated deliverable that could serve as a template for real-world use.
