- Provides clinical experience with individuals and families throughout the life span in a psychiatric mental health setting in the advanced practice nursing role.
- Includes a didactic seminar that focuses on assessment of psychopathology and mental health, psychodiagnostic history taking, mental status evaluation, differential diagnosis, and treatment for various aged diverse clients.
- Requires students to develop a caseload, and to practice in the clinical setting a minimum of twenty hours per week with an agency preceptor.
- Integration of theory and practice is emphasized, utilizing the data from the students' clinical placement as they apply to the specific diagnoses presented in clinical work.
- Also requires students to draft a needs assessment proposal to be completed in NRSG 6481.
