- Covers the fundamentals of (formal) deductive and inductive logic.
- Begins with a thorough treatment of Boolean (i.e., truth-functional or propositional) logic, which provides the foundation for both mathematical and statistical reasoning.
- Discusses various applications of Boolean logic, including the reconstruction and evaluation of (natural language) deductive arguments.
- Covers inductive-logical reasoning, such as the fundamentals of the probability calculus and its applications to inductive (ampliative) inference.
- Offers students an opportunity to understand both deductive (e.g., mathematical) and inductive (e.g., statistical) reasoning.
