- Seeks to provide nonscience students with a practical knowledge of our present use of the Earth's energy resources and the environmental consequences.
- Topics include fossil fuels for transportation and electrical power, global warming, nuclear energy, solar energy, wind power, biomass, electric and hybrid vehicles, and air pollution.
- No previous knowledge of physics is assumed; nevertheless, because of the nature of the subject, a significant part of the course includes simple quantitative reasoning.
