- Considers the role of science and technology in the policymaking process, not only as a tool but also as a subject of policymaking.
- Cases include government involvement in innovation and economic growth, the role of the military in the development of science and technology, the governance and regulation of the effects of scientific and technological progress, public funding of science and technology, and ethical aspects of science and technology, including the emerging focus on anticipatory and participatory governance.
