- Offers students an opportunity to obtain a foundation of knowledge about the etiology and characteristics of language disorders in school-age children.
- Addresses the evolving language demands children encounter as they progress through school, the impact of language disorders on academic performance and social interaction in the classroom, the relationship between oral and written language development, as well as the role of the speech-language pathologist in the assessment and treatment of written language disorders.
- Also designed to teach students in the field of communication disorders about literacy skill use and evaluation and treatment of literacy impairments beyond early childhood.
